#42 - science of sleep

i watched "the science of sleep" tonight... i liked it. darn weird movie, but i kinda like that kind, the kind where the plot is kinda irrelevant. i mean, y'know more mainstream movies have a plot and a timeline and usually i sit in those kinda movies and (because there's always some kind of loophole created when the movie gets edited or something doesn't get shot in production or that kind of practical thing) all you can think about are the plot holes. but in this kinda movie, plot holes are so unimportant because the whole thing is supposed to be an alterate look at reality so you don't really need to question why there's a teddy bear band in the middle of the movie. y'know?

anyway, i thought it was pretty cool the way the movie took me away from trying to find concrete-ness in what i see and hear for almost two hours. the ridculousness of the scenes kinda force you to, and that's okay because really, the movie is pretty much a basic date-movie love story, but since you don't get caught up in thinking about the predictable you don't worry about trying to predict, and that was the good thing about this movie. no analyzing, just watching. of course, i do the analyzing thing way too much, so it was nice to watch a movie without the extra thinking. plus, i like accents, and they had some cool french/spanish accents in this movie. now, i just need to find a date to watch these date-type-movies with...
