#105 - goomba

okay, so i've been completely brainwashed by the company called nintendo. it's not my fault, i grew up right along side mario bros. i was too young for atari, but bought the very first issue of nintendo power, with super mario bros. 2 on the cover. posters of zelda, metroid, goombas and koopa troopas on my wall. starman and bob-omb sheets too. everything i learned about the world was through the eyes of nintendo, it was so simple, two-dimensions, you run right as fast as you can and jump over stuff. it was nice.

now video games are too complicated, you can't see anything, you can move absolutely everywhere and you can get stuck walking into a wall (i'm growing old as i write this). what i don't get is graphics are so much more advanced now, but you try playing those zelda games and you can't tell a monster from your big toe. that's why i like wii so much, so simple, intuitive, clean, cartoony graphics, perfect video game playing. plus you can play all the old games with just a control pad and two buttons.

anyway, my point is... i love mushrooms. i've always wanted to live in a place where mushrooms grow, but i've never ever seeen one in my yard until this morning... check it out!!! of course, it was gone by 10am when the sun came out, but how awesome is that? does it make that much of a difference being across the H1 in mauka now? is it that cold? and wet up here?

and to make it even better, after the mushroom went kaput, i went surfing! mushrooms and surfing in the same day, sweet! plus... in the meantime lookie what happened on maui up haleakala:

where else would i live?
