#74 - to whoever the crap is in charge of uh sports

to whoever the crap is in charge of the uh football schedule (aka herman fraizer),

so what good came out of scheduling charleston southern (aka the SECOND Div. I-AA team out of 12 games this year) really? let's list them:
1. rest colt
2. colt got to rest
3. no playing on a bum ankle for colt

that's it. "oh, but they got another 'w,'" you say? big whoop. so now they're 4-0 with two wins over two Div. I-AA teams. right.

"oh, but graunke got some good real game experience," you say? and the rest of us got a glimpse at uh football 2008... uh oh.

"oh, but we got to see the second and third string guys play and score and get confidence," you say? great. just what they need, MORE confidence, that way when they tackle someone for the first time maybe they can king kong their way to even more unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (poor dan kelly's right leg).

ah, well, i guess a win is better than a loss anyday huh?

on a related note: i would like to take this moment to publicly thank the new mexico state university women's volleyball team for:
1. actually existing
2. bolting from the sun belt conference (where they dominated almost as much as UH in the WAC)
3. joining the WAC
4. finally giving UH a worthy opponent in conference play and making the mid-season actually matter again

uh sports rant = the end.

Okay.
I don't buy in this Colt Brennan thing. Not yet at least. I sure as heck don't think he's going to win the Heisman.
It's not his fault that he plays in a very weak conference, and they play division II schools.
It's like those high school kids who just shine and outperform everyone, and they think he's going to be really good, and he goes to college to play... and realizes people there are faster and better than him, and he ends up riding the bench.
Or a really smart kid in high school, goes to college, sees that everyone around him is smarter than him.

Someone argued that if Colt played in a better conference, with faster defenses, he'd have more weapons and better offensive players to counter that.
That's not always true.
Look at Eli Manning. Had a great college career, still struggling as an NFL player.. even when he had Tiki Barber.
This long pointless comment is just to say that I think UH Warriors are overrated, and I think Colt Brennan is overrated.
It's all, as people living in Hawaii, have to look forward to when it comes to sports.

So, how's work?

hmm... i agree that UH is completely overrated (i'm absolutely shocked that they hit #19 last week, but i think that's partially due to some tough games the bigger teams have already been through compared to uh's wuss schedule), but i think brennan's the real deal. not like timmy chang, that was all just a huge load and now he plays in canadia, haha. that being said, no way would i vote for colt for heisman. it's nice for people to be able to rally and hope, but if the heisman means anything (and i sure hope it does), they won't give it to colt. i think he's a very ligitmate 3rd pick, but let's not go crazy just over his numbers.

then again, if colt was in a better conference, he wouldn't have the numbers that made people look to him in the first place (either he wouldn't be able to get them, or hawaii wouldn't be able to play the "forget about defense, as long as we score faster we'll win" game). plus, he probably wouldn't even be able to play for a team in a higher profile conference because of his little "alledged incident" in colorado. haha, not that i really care, but it's funny anyway. like how kim willoughby stole a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff at the dorms, remember that? haha, who cares? she's like a cyborg playing vball.

btw - did you call me today and ask for a football? i had no idea who i was talking to.
